OTT app, mobile app, and web
Sinclair Broadcast’s goal was to reach new and current users via live and on-demand video content across streaming box, web, smart TV and mobile platforms. Designing a suite of apps for the Tennis Channel was phase one of this initiative. My team’s challenge was to create the customer experience for purchasing subscriptions and watching on-demand videos and live streams across multiple distribution channels.
My role in this project was to design the customer experience across the tvOS, Roku, and Android platforms from wireframe to final production. I elevated the project by ensuring that the customer experience was cohesive across all of the platforms designed by my team.
Early on we used a design sprint to help define what was important in order to determine what to build.
Steps for the deliverables for our sprint

Our process helped our technology team and product team sell the scope and vision of this product while our design team could focus on the gritty details.

Our wireframe OTT prototype helped keep everyone on the same page. We could reference this to try and keep the design “device agnostic”.

I iterated through prototype after prototype to meet the needs of our stakeholders and potential users. Prototypes like this visualize the design process to enable feedback and collaboration.

Sinclair Broadcast’s suite of apps allows producers to publish live video, linear programs, and on-demand video across every platform. The customer experience is similar across tablets, phones, computers, and TVs.

The experience is supposed to feel like the same across all of our intended platforms, and have scalability for more potential publishers needs. It allows for producers to organize their content in smart, structured ways.

The 10 foot experience differs from a touch or point and click interface significantly. I grew as a designer by creating a successful tvOS experience.
